War, disease, and global warming have caused a
significant decline of the human race. The human
world has become a Shadow Zone where people
mysteriously disappear and infertility among
those of age to have children has grown at an alarming rate.
|
The vampire race monitors the human world whose
decline is forcing them to find other ways to
obtain the blood they need. They also watch the
werewolves who consider the vampires a threat.
The werewolves have sent, Julia, a scout out into
the Shadow Zone in search of the key to
immortality which both sides believe the humans
have unearthed. Rick is a century's old vampire
sent by the council of elders to intercept her
before she can discover these secrets and take them back to her kind.
Rick's been watching the fierce female warrior
for a long time. No female has been able to
challenge or seduce him in ages. Yet Julia is one
luscious little werewolf who definitely makes him
feel alive and more than anything, he wants to
make her his. No matter how he does it.
Reviews:
"Isabella Jordan has written one of the best stories I have read of vampires and werewolves in a long time. I didn't want it to end, I was involved. I cannot wait for the next book in this "Wonderfully, Vivid" world to see where the author goes with this well written story. I loved the way that Rick takes Julia in hand to show her that losing control is a good thing, if it is to the right person. This story is one I will re-read many, many times." - Nicole Harvey, Paranormal Romance
"Taking Julia is the first book in what promises to be an exciting new series by Isabella Jordan. Julia is a brave and strong woman living in a time when life is cruel. Rick is a man who is drawn to this incredible woman and struggles with what he should do according to his elders and what he needs to do for himself. The passion that is between Julia and Rick is fiery and Isabella Jordan keeps the sexual tension building with every second the two are together. Taking Julia has me eager for the next book in The Shadow Zone series. I highly recommend this story!" - 4 1/2 lips, Tara Renee, Two Lips Reviews
"Isabella Jordan displays her talent for thoughtful, sexy, and exciting fiction with her latest release Shadow Zone 1: Taking Julia. I was instantly drawn to the tragic backdrop of Earth’s doom future of illness, ongoing battles, infertility and an ominous secret society; my attention was held when Julia and Rick’s caustic confrontation took wickedly seductive turn. The plot was intricate without being confusing thus allowing the reader to eagerly ride the suspense leading to the story’s treacherous turn of events. Without a doubt, Taking Julia is a highly recommended novella." - 4 Nymphs, Urban Nymph, Literary Nymphs
"You know from the beginning of The Shadow Zone: Taking Julia that Rick and Julia are meant to be together. These two are simply hot for each other and their attraction has been woven into this short story in a very entertaining and deft manner so that you soon feel like you've known them for some time. Having crossed paths before their most current adventure ensures that Rick and Julia have established some rapport despite that they belong to two different factions, and they have the opportunity to play out their fantasies. What was intriguing was that both of them were able to work out their mistrust of each other and build a strong relationship from their initial sexual attraction. The sex between these two was hot and steamy with some light BDSM. Rick and Julia fairly sizzled, especially with Rick's dominant streak and Julia's feisty spirit. Ms. Jordan's handling of this story also helped me enjoy this futuristic erotic romance filled with adventure and action. The plot was fast paced and the setting well thought out with an interesting world that gave an eerie and gothic tone to the book and made the Shadow Zone feel like another world. I'm sure readers will enjoy this latest installment from Ms. Jordan." - 4 stars, Aggie Tsirikas, Just Erotic Romance Reviews
"Isabella Jordan writes a chilling version of future earth in The Shadow Zone: Taking Julia. I loved the characters; Julia was feisty and tough as a werewolf should be. Rick was an alpha male with a Spanish accent that made you long for this vampire lover. Rick has wanted Julia for awhile now and has overcome issues of species. Julia is another story; she doesn’t want anything to do with the bloodsucker. As the interaction continues Julia learns a few things and will make her choices based on fact not suspicion. Taking Julia was a yummy snack. I have enjoyed Ms. Jordan’s previous works and look forward to more." - 4 Angels, Dana P., Fallen Angels Reviews
